“We strive to work with local products only.”

Camping ’t Noorder Sandt is committed to the next generations with an eye on the future. We contribute to this through sustainability and socially responsible entrepreneurship. Attention to the well-being of the environment, climate, and society is our top priority.

This constantly evolving process relates to all aspects of our camping site. Below you can find some examples.

Solar Panels:

Our park features 100 solar panels that together generate approximately 27 kilowatts. The energy produced by the solar panels is used directly on the camping site. The solar panels are located on the roof of one of the main buildings, minimizing any inconvenience. This keeps the landscape unchanged. The use of solar panels for electricity generation means that no fossil fuels are needed and no greenhouse gases are emitted. Utilizing solar panels reduces our environmental impact. However, we are not there yet, but with each new investment, we carry this commitment forward.

Sanitary Facilities:

In the two sanitary facilities on our camping site, we limit the use of drinking water by implementing fixed shower times and restricting the amount of water that flows through the showers per minute. Additionally, we use environmentally friendly cleaning products for cleaning. These small changes make a world of difference!

People and Society:

Accessibility for People with Disabilities

Vacations are for everyone, and accessibility is of great importance. For this reason, the toilet building "De Koepel" has facilities for people with disabilities, and the toilet building "De Piramide" offers special facilities for children. Want to take a refreshing dip in the pool? The pool "Het Spetternest" is also equipped with facilities for people with disabilities. Additionally, we strive to keep the entire campsite as accessible as possible for everyone.

Restaurant ’t Sandt/’t Sandcafé:

Both in Restaurant ’t Sandt and in ’t Sandcafé, we are committed to making our products more sustainable. Here, you can enjoy a delicious cup of sustainable coffee or tea, and we serve drinks with natural straws from 'Hay Straws,' which are made from hay/straw. Straight from nature! If a straw happens to blow away, no problem—it will find its way back to nature.

Additionally, we believe it is important to purchase products from our own region, as reducing transportation also leads to lower CO2 emissions. Elkedagversss, Keurslager Konijn from Den Helder provides us with our delicious fresh products!

Transport:

Are you traveling with an electric car? We've thought of that too. There is a charging station in the general parking lot of our campsite. We also have a charging station on the campsite itself!

Are you coming by public transport? Ask our staff for the best available routes or check the "Contact" section on our website.

Bee Garden:

Nature provides the beauty of the surroundings, and for this reason, we try to contribute wherever we can. A beautiful example of this is our bee garden. The bee garden supports the local flora and fauna. Contrary to popular belief, bees do not sting without reason; they only show their stinger when they feel threatened. Additionally, it’s an easy way to contribute to a sustainable world while enjoying the beauty that bees have to offer. Who knows, a bee garden might be something for you too? Be sure to check out: Bee To Business – Make Your Business Sustainable! Honey from our bees is available for purchase at the reception.

Green Key:

Green Key is the largest sustainability certification for the tourism and recreational sector in the Netherlands. Nearly 700 Dutch companies have obtained this certification. Camping ’t Noorder Sandt is also striving for this sustainability label. This includes using energy and water efficiently, cleaning in an environmentally friendly way, recycling, and making thoughtful choices regarding food and other products. But we can't do this without you!
