Schaatsmuseum
In Friesland, the mecca of skating, you can relive all the memories at the first Frisian Skating Museum. You will discover that skating has a centuries-old history.
A characteristic building in picturesque Hindeloopen houses the equally characteristic First Frisian Skating Museum. Started small in 1983, it can now call itself the largest museum in the skating field.
The Skating Museum possesses not only the largest collection of skates and sleds in the world, but also the complete history of the Elfstedentocht can be admired here. Each winner has its own display case filled with various attributes and precious metals from the Eleven Cities Tours. There is even a frozen toe in the museum. The skates of our King Willem-Alexander also show off in the display case, along with the skates of Queen Wilhelmina.
In the old workshops you can imagine yourself in a skate factory of yesteryear.
