Animals at the centre
What makes animal park Hoenderdaell so special is that the animals are central. There is a lot of attention for their wellbeing and in the park the natural habitat is simulated as well as possible. Hoenderdaell also frequently looks after animals in need.

Ring-tailed lemurs in action
The monkey island is the habitat of the inquisitive ring-tailed lemurs. The best time to visit the island is when the lemurs may be fed. Pieces of apple are distributed to the public and the ring-tailed lemurs come running for all directions. They jump on top of you and eat the fruit from your hand. An unforgettable experience.

Feeding bright-coloured birds
The Lorituin (Lori garden) is occupied by small bright-coloured parrots: loris. These birds are crazy about honey water that the animal park visitors can buy. Loris may be fed at any time of the day, which creates a beautiful spectacle when they come flying in.

Avitorium and bird demonstration
The complex has spacious aviaries where the bird have sufficient space to show their natural behaviour, including the birds participating in the presentation! No night-active owls are being kept there, just day and dusk-active owls. It was also decided not to keep hybrids and the flying area is covered by mesh to prevent mixture of species. Obviously the presentation too has been given an entirely new character; the birds shoe their natural behaviour and the emphasis is on educating the public.

Predator sheltering
Country estate Hoenderdaell also houses the shelter of the Lion foundation. At this location, displace feline predators are sheltered temporarily. They are taken care of and trained to eventually return to their country of origin, where they can live free in large fenced parks. Admission to the Lion Foundation is included in the animal park entrance ticket.
