Museum BroekerVeiling
Visit the first and last vegetable 'sail through' auction in the world, deep inside the Noord-Holland polder and learn about the interesting story of an area that once consisted of over 15,000 islands. The heart of the area was formed by the first sail through route in the world: The BroekerVeiling. Since 1973 the sail through auction has been a beautiful museum where you can experience how things went here in the past. Take a look at surprising expositions and go back in time with gardener Arie. Sail through what is left of the Rijk der Duizend eilanden (the Realm of the Thousand Islands) and learn more about how this unique area came into existence. Of course there is an opportunity to trade yourself at the demonstration auction during this unique day out.
Sailing yourself
Would you rather explore the area around the Noorderplas by yourself? At Museum BroekerVeiling you can rent electric boats to go sailing by yourself. For more information go to: www.zelfvaren.nl.
